The Ultimate FAM group is participating in a scavenger hunt throughout the MSC Splendida.

Yesterday, I walked around the ship searching for the answers and discovered the different venues and products available to guests.

For starters, the 18 decks are divided into sections of staterooms, pools, restaurants and cafes, and activities such as the F1 Simulator, a jogging track and a bowling alley.

Phyllis Fragiorgi, regional sales manager, MSC Cruises (USA) Inc., said what makes the MSC Splendida different from other ships is the European décor and ambiance.

“Each ship has a different theme,” Fragiorgi said. “[The Splendida] offers a variety of lounges onboard and each focuses on different entertainment, which makes it enjoyable because [guests] can stroll through the ship and have a different experience.”

Fragiorgi said that it’s a great option for families because children 11 and under sail for free; teens 12-17 years old pay a lesser fee; and there are options, as mentioned above, that cater to everyone’s needs.

Fragiorgi highlighted the benefits of the Yacht Club, stating that it’s the best option for travellers who enjoy privacy and exclusivity.

“It’s a ship within a ship. [Guests get] the privacy of a small ship within a bigger ship, so they can enjoy both worlds.”

The restaurants that I have experienced so far have been L’Olivio, Tex Mex and Bora Bora.

L’Olivio is a fine-dining restaurant and the menu includes daily specials as well as items that are “always available” such as Caesar salad, spaghetti and steak; Tex Mex is decorated with cactuses, wheelbarrows, wooden tables and chairs, and the menu includes a variety of burger combinations as well as burritos and quesadillas; Bora Bora is a buffet restaurant that includes different types of food including Mediterranean, pasta, bakery items, fruit and desserts, and a children’s section.

The Strand Theatre
The ship also features nightly entertainment in the Strand Theatre and in various bars throughout.

Last night, the FAM group enjoyed a performance by the Jazz Set Orchestra in L’Espresso lounge which overlooks the main foyer.

Stay tuned tomorrow for information on excursions in Tunisia, Malta and Italy.
