Justin Belford, business development manager, Exotik Tours and Boomerang Tours, gave an abbreviated version of the approximately hour-and-a-half presentation he has recently been delivering to agents during breakfast launches, which will continue into next week.
The 2012-2013 edition of the Exotik Tours Worldbook bears Exotik Tours’ new branding, which it unveiled last week.
“We’re trying to portray that image of a higher level of service,” Belford said of the new branding and brochure cover.
The new brochure also celebrates the company’s 35th anniversary.
“Not a lot of tour operators can say that they’ve been around for 35 years, so we are really happy to be able to celebrate that this year,” said Belford.
In celebration of its 35 years of operations, Exotik Tours launched its Facebook page this year and is offering 10 TC Loyalty Points to all agents who “Like” the company on Facebook. Belford added that Exotik Tours will be unveiling more Facebook contests in the near future as well.
As part of its new branding, the tour operator has also redesigned its website by making the layout clean and simple.
Exotik Tours and Boomerang Tours formerly shared the exotik.com URL, but now each has its own respective website: exotiktours.com and boomerangtours.ca.
“We’re not putting too much information on there. We’ve got PDF copies of our brochures and consumer friendly flyers,” explained Belford.
The new site also provides more detailed information on Exotik’s various tours.
“We couldn’t make the brochure 300 pages. Because we have so many products, some of them won’t make it in to the brochure, so we put a pictogram [in the brochure] saying if you want to know more about Brazil [for example], there is more on it on the website,” said David Boigné, vice president, specialty division, Thomas Cook Canada.
Exotik Tours has changed the types of vacations it books dramatically over the past five years, according to Belford.
While the tour operator once saw more than 80 per cent of its bookings consisting of pre-constructed tours, the pendulum has swung the other way to the point that approximately 80 per cent of its current bookings are FIT.
“If it can be booked, we can book it with Exotik,” Belford said.
According to Boigné, the crucial difference between Exotik Tours and some of the other tour operators under the Thomas Cook Canada umbrella is the high customizability of the products.
“If your clients want a restaurant, or they want to go to the best show in town and they want to hand pick their local guide... we’re going to do that for them,” he said.
Exotik Tours is offering two Early Booking Bonuses allowing clients to save up to $300 per couple. Oct. 31, 2012 is the deadline for the tour operator’s first EBB, while April 30, 2013 represents the second EBB deadline. In addition, when clients pay in cash, a reduction of $50 per person will be granted for packages and tours of $2,500 and more; and a reduction of $25 will be granted for packages and tours between $1,500 and $2,499.
