Palace Resorts has expanded  its Canadian sales team, naming  Juan Carlos Calderon as the new corporate director of sales in Canada and Nadia Therrien as the new regional sales manager for groups and incentives.

Calderon will be responsible for developing new and effective sales campaigns across various markets within Canada from tour operations to MICE and will directly liaise with Ash Tembe, director of North America field sales with outreach to the travel agent segment.

A knowledgeable member of the hospitality industry, Calderon began his career at Palace Resorts in 2002 at the former Cancun Palace, where he oversaw client services. Calderon later transitioned to a sales manager position at Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort, before being promoted to regional director for MICE sales in the Canadian market.

In his new role, Calderon will utilize his years of experience and knowledge of the brand to embark on innovative sales campaigns targeting key Canadian markets. Prior to this, Calderon also served as the regional director of sales for groups and incentives in Canada.

Therrien will lead efforts from Montreal to boost group sales in the Canadian market for the brand’s six oceanfront resort properties in Cancun, Cozumel, Isla Mujeres and Riviera Maya, Mexico, as well as Le Blanc Spa Resort in Cancun.

Formerly a sales manager at Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach Cancun Resort & Spa, Therrien brings eight years of experience in international, multilingual sales and marketing, primarily within the Canadian market, to her position at Palace Resorts. She has experience in developing, implementing and recommending group sales strategies to maximize outreach to target markets.

Therrien, who holds a certificate in hotel management from Concordia University, also has luxury experience, having worked for two high-end boutique hotels in Montreal; the St. James Hotel and Hotel Gault.
