Wind Star, one of three sailing yachts in Windstar Cruises’ fleet, has recently completed its renovations.
It is the first yacht, as part of the $18 million fleet-wide renovation project, to receive redesigned staterooms, owner’s suites and upgraded public areas. The decor was updated with new furnishings, upholstery, art, lighting, carpeting, ceiling finishes and window treatments.
The AmphorA restaurant includes a redesigned seating layout, wine display and storage. A new menu was also introduced and features dishes such as Dover sole, duck a l’orange and lobster ravioli.
The outdoor seating was expanded, and the interior includes a new buffet, new lighting, and new display counters. The Compass Rose was also reconfigured to open up to the adjoining outdoor deck.
Other enhanced areas include the lounge, which features new hardwood flooring, rugs, furniture, a lighter colour palette, and a new AV system; the casino, which has new sound insulation; reception, which features new artwork and a new colour palette; and the pool bar, which has additional alfresco seating and deck furniture.
As part of the $18 million renovation project, Windstar Cruises has redesigned the fleet’s staterooms and suites. The upgraded rooms showcase new leather headboards, arm chairs, linen wall coverings, new lighting features, window coverings, wool carpeting, new art work, and new bed cushions.
The white sails were also replaced and over 69,000 square feet of hand-crafted sails were ordered. Wind Spirit, the last of the fleet to receive the order, hoisted the sails up last week.
The next phase in the renovation project will include the complete enhancement of Wind Surf, previewing on Dec. 1, 2012 and Wind Spirit, to be completed on Dec. 22, 2012.
