WestJet has appointed Lyell Farquharson as vice-president, sales, effective Aug. 28, 2012.
Farquharson joins WestJet from American Express Canada where he has been vice-president and general manager of business travel Canada for the last five years. Prior to American Express, Farquharson was president of Navigant International Canada, a subsidiary of Navigant International, which is one of the largest travel management companies in North America.

"To have Lyell's background and experience will assist us tremendously as our airline continues to grow. His wealth of knowledge and the relationships he has forged for more than two decades in the travel business market will make him a great leader of our sales team."
Farquharson is a chartered accountant with a bachelor of business management from Ryerson in Toronto. A native of Ontario, Farquharson will be based in Toronto.
