| ZERO TOLERANCE HAND LUGGAGE POLICY ON PERURAIL | | New policy in effect Aug. 6, 2012; baggage may not exceed five kgs | |
Starting Aug. 6, 2012, passengers onboard PeruRail trains may take baggage, one bag or backpack, weighing five kg (11 lb), and must store it in compartments provided by PeruRail.
Baggage that exceeds the measurements will not be allowed on the trains.
Hand baggage must not block aisles, exit doors, emergency windows, or other seats as it is against the law. Hand baggage must be transported on board the train, under the passengers' custody and liability.
Passengers doing the Inca Trail can apply for PeruRail’s exceptional flexibility policy for luggage on board, when showing their UGM permission. This only applies to departures to Machu Picchu. On the return, the hand luggage must be transported on the luggage car offered by PeruRail.
