Blue Diamond Hotels & Resorts, a division of Sunwing Travel Group, has purchased the Grand Paradise Bavaro Beach Resort, Casino and Spa.

With immediate effect, the Blue Diamond team will take over the management of the resort, which will continue to operate as Grand Paradise Bavaro Beach Resort through to April 30, 2013. At that point, the resort will be closed for a six month period to allow for changes and improvements to bring it in line with Blue Diamond’s “Memories Resorts” specifications. The resort will re-open in November 2013 as the five star-rated Memories Punta Cana Beach Resort and Spa.

This acquisition is Blue Diamond’s second wholly owned and managed property, following the recent purchase of the ex-SuperClubs resort in Trelawny, Jamaica, currently undergoing a $40-million renovation before it reopens as “Memories White Sands Beach Resort & Spa” later this year.

Situated on Bavaro Beach, and a half-hour drive from Punta Cana International Airport, Grand Paradise Bavaro Beach Resort features 1,029 guest rooms and suites. All guests are accommodated on an All Inclusive basis, with a choice of six a la carte restaurants, two buffet restaurants and ten bars across the resort.

“With the increase in demand for Punta Cana and the scarcity of available rooms, the destination was the obvious choice for our next expansion of the hotel division,” said Stephen Hunter, president & CEO Sunwing Travel Group.

“Already a popular resort on a perfect wide expanse of white beach, we have ambitious plans to differentiate the resort under our Memories brand next year”.

Hello again I never got a reply on my previous questions but i am also very concerned about my dear and close freinds that work at grand paradise namely Mr.Miguel Suerro over the last 10 to 11 years i grown to know this man and has become a personal freind of mine sort of like my extended family, and quit frankly this guy single handedely keeps this resort up to speed i am in the customer service feild and this man just takes out all the stops to satisfy your needs, i am hearing that some of the staff members will not be re-hired once the resort is re-opened in november-2013 i am booked to return in dec-2013 for my 12th year at this resort for 4 weeks as usual , it will be a great loss if i return to see my dear freinds at this resort not their :-( and i will be deeply saddened because this is what is special about this resort the intimate attention to detail should not be overlooked these people have been working there and have stayed loyal to the brand just like myself.

Hello good day, could you please respond I am please to hear about your expansion of the new memories White Sands Beach Resort; however, my concern is about the workers who are now working at Grand Paradise. Will they still have a job when the new hotel is open or Memories will be hiring new workers. I live in Toronto but I have some good friends working at Grand Paradise that will not have a job when Grand Paradise is close. Would you please consider rehiring some of these workers. I have seen some of these workers in action and I know they would be a tremendous asset to your company. I was very pleased with the service I received at Grand Paradise last year. Thank yYyou

I am a member at this hotel and have been for the last 10 years, I still have a valid signed contract with plenty of time left in it.I have been hearing that these previous contracts will not be respected and nul, Is this true ? I hope not because usually when u buy a property you must recognize and respect all previous engagements espeacially if it is in writing. Can someone please let me know if my contract will be respected ? or do i got to start involving my lawyers ? it would be a shame i have been loyal for 10 years i should be recognized for this besides just having a contract on it hopefully either Collin or Stephen will do something honourable because there are many of us, please get back to me asap. thanks Henry.
