Thomas Cook Group plc announced on Sat., May 5 that it has agreed to a three-year, £1.4 billion (approximately CAD$2.25 billion) refinancing package with its lenders. The agreement, which extends to May 31, 2015, provides further stability to the business, according to a statement released by the Group this weekend. Air Canada believes it can eventually turn its first profit in years by moving past the labour disruptions that have damaged its brand to transform the airline by reducing employee and maintenance costs. While it would be easier to tackle the challenges of the 75-year-old carrier by starting over, “sadly life doesn't work like that,” president and CEO Calin Rovinescu said Friday after the airline reported significantly deeper losses in the first quarter. “What you're seeing is the chipping away through a transformational process of many, many, many inefficiencies that re built-in and inherent in a legacy environment like this.” Rovinescu said the airline has given its employees very good lifestyles over the years... TRANSAT ANNOUNCES ROUYN-NORANDA TO MEXICO FLIGHTS
Transat has announced that for a second year in a row, it will be offering a weekly flight from Rouyn Noranda to Cancun and the Riviera Maya from Dec. 18, 2012 to Apr. 30, 2013.
