| VACATION AND VOLUNTEER - AN EMERGING TRAVEL NICHE |
| Laurie Carter |
Trek Holidays' Imaginative Traveller program is tapping into the emerging niche market of vacationers who want to give something back to the places they visit. Imaginative Travellers volunteer a few days of their vacation to work on projects in countries such as Kenya, Sri Lanka, Mongolia, Nepal, Peru, Tanzania, Botswana, Ecuador and Thailand. Imaginative Traveller Volunteers need no experience, they don't have to take an extended break from their jobs and they don't even have to give up their vacations. All they need is enthusiasm and a desire to work alongside local people on various worthwhile projects. Activities include assisting in the home-building work with Habitat for Humanity; building or improving school facilities; working alongside local families protecting the water supply with compost toilets. Or even milking goats! And each rewarding volunteer program is combined with an exciting adventure holiday.
