|
| International tourists will have the benefit of making tax-free purchases while vacationing in Mexico starting on July 1, 2006, pending final approval of a Tourism Ministry-backed measure making its way up Mexico's Congress. If approved, the initiative will grant international visitors a full refund of the 15 per cent tax added to purchases if the buyer follows a few simple steps, which include obtaining an official receipt from the vendor and ensuring that the purchase exits the country via air or sea with the tourist. The purchase must also be worth a little more than $100 US at the current exchange rate.
