SriLankan Airlines announces that as of December 9, 2004, it has terminated the services of RepWorld Holdings Inc., as its general sales agent for Canada. Tickets for travel on SriLankan Airlines will no longer be available through RepWorld Holdings Inc. SriLankan Airlines remains committed as always to servicing the needs of its Canadian customers and it will be making arrangements to ensure that all reservations and ticketing will continue through independent Canadian travel agents.

Jetsgo's November Traffic up 36.5%
Jetsgo's passenger traffic in November 2004 increased 36.5% to 193,777,661 Revenue Passenger Miles compared to 141,942,841 in November 2003. Capacity grew over the same period by 45.5% to 297,205,280 Available Seat Miles from 204,272,000. The load factor in November 2004 was 65.2% compared to 69.5% in November 2003.

P.E.I. nudist resort gets nod to add campground in Green Gables country

A stark transformation is underway in the land of pinafores and gingham, thanks to Prince Edward Island's only nudist resort. The operators of the Oasis Resort, a nudist getaway in Cavendish, have received permission from municipal authorities to expand their operation with a campground. ``They're saying tourism is down, but this is a market that keeps going up,'' Gary Lowther, who owns and operates the resort with his wife Linda, said Tuesday.

Celebrity Cruises’ horizon moves to island

Celebrity Cruises’ Horizon will move to the Island Cruises fleet in October 2005 under a six-year lease agreement arrangement with the British-based cruise line. Island Cruises, created in May 2000, is the brand name of Sunshine Cruises Limited, a joint venture between Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. and First Choice Holidays PLC, one of the United Kingdom’s largest integrated tour operators.

United Airlines, pilots' negotiators reach tentative contract agreement

Negotiators for United Airlines and its pilots' union have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract, the union said Tuesday. Details were not disclosed. The deal has yet to be approved by the union's leadership, which has scheduled a meeting in Chicago on Thursday to decide. ``We do have a tentative agreement with the company,'' union spokesman Herb Hunter said. ``Details won't be released until after the MEC (master executive council) gets a chance to review it.''

Airlines could break even if oil falls to US$36 a barrel, global body says

The global airline industry is expected to lose $5 billion US this year, due in part to high fuel costs, but could break even in 2005 if oil prices drop to an average of $36 US a barrel, the industry's trade group said Tuesday. Crude oil prices have been around $40 a barrel for much of this year _ although they reached a high of $55.17 in October.

Club Med narrows loss in 2004, citing Asian rebound and strong U.S. sales

French tour operator Club Mediterranee SA said Tuesday that it narrowed its losses in fiscal year 2004 behind improved sales in the Americas and an initial rebound in business in Asia. Club Med said its net loss in the fiscal year ended Oct. 31 was 44 million euros ($58 million US), down from 94 million euros a year ago. Revenue fell slightly to 1.60 billion euros ($2.12 billion) from 1.61 billion euros.

Panama Canal reports record tonnage in 2004, says administrator
Five years after the United States turned over control of the Panama Canal, it's working better than ever, according to its administrator, Alberto Aleman. ``At the end of 1999 there was a lot of concern at the local and international levels about whether Panamanians would be able to operate the canal or not,'' Aleman said in an interview. He said five years of a businesslike Panamanian administration have put the fears to rest, though the canal operators still face a major challenge of expanding the 90-year-old link between the Atlantic and the Pacific, something that will cost billions.

Frankfurt Airport Achieves Record Figures in November Again
Frankfurt Airport (FRA) which is expected in the next week to top the 50 million passenger mark for the first time in the airport's history - again registered new record traffic figures for the reporting month of November 2004. New peak figures at FRA were achieved for aircraft movements (takeoffs and landings), passenger traffic as well as airfreight tonnage. FRA handled some 7,794 metric tons of airfreight on November 21, a new historic daily record for Frankfurt Airport - Europe's busiest cargo hub. Germany's largest passenger airport welcomed 3,844,349 passengers in November 2004, up 2.2 percent compared to the corresponding month last year.

The Board of Directors of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. has declared a quarterly dividend of 13 cents per share for shareholders of record at the close of business on December 23, 2004, payable on December 31, 2004. This is the 45th consecutive quarter Royal Caribbean’s Board of Directors has voted to declare a dividend to shareholders.

French prosecutors summon Continental executives in Concorde crash inquiry
Prosecutors summoned Continental Airlines' top two executives for questioning in the investigation of the July 2000 crash of a supersonic Air France Concorde, two lawyers said Tuesday. The decision to question Chief Executive Officer Gordon Bethune and President and Chief Operating Officer Larry Kellner came after a panel of experts concluded that the crash outside Paris was caused by a titanium strip that fell from a Continental jet that took off earlier on the same runway.
