BIRD FLU ON THE WING
Authorities in China said Thursday they have quarantined 116 people in northeastern Liaoning province after two new outbreaks of bird flu there. The province has now suffered three outbreaks in less than three weeks despite a massive campaign to contain the virus. Kuwait reported the first two cases of bird flu in the Gulf region but said it would not do the tests to determine whether they were caused by the deadly and virulent H5N1 strain.

Lined up for the mini-trade show were Goway experts in each of the company's major destination groups including Africa, Asia, the Islands of the South Pacific, the Middle East and the lands Downunder - Australia and New Zealand. NCL RETURNS TO COZUMEL
Norwegian Cruise Line is pleased to report that Norwegian Dream, Norwegian Sun and Norwegian Majesty will be able to call into Cozumel next week as scheduled. Norwegian Dawn will return to Cozumel on its Nov. 20 sailing as scheduled.
OPEN SKIES
The governments of Canada and the United States have negotiated an "Open Skies" air transport agreement, Transport Minister Jean-C. Lapierre and International Trade Minister Jim Peterson announced today. Potential benefits from the expansion of the 1995 agreement include greater access for Canadian passenger and cargo carriers to a much larger U.S. market as a platform from which to serve third countries; increased pricing flexibility for Canadian and U.S. carriers; more options for Canadian airports to attract U.S. carriers and lower prices for consumers.
