Delta Air Lines Inc., the third-largest airline in the United States, expects a ``substantial'' loss this year and has warned it may have to seek bankruptcy protection if its financial situation worsens. Its shares tumbled nine per cent after Thursday morning's disclosure.

Air Canada parent ACE Aviation reports profit of $15M

The parent firm of Air Canada, which emerged from bankruptcy-court protection last September, is reporting a fourth-quarter profit of $15 million  versus a year-ago loss of $780 million. ACE Aviation Holdings Inc. (TSX:ACE.B) also reported Wednesday an operating loss of $3 million, an improvement over the $77 million operating loss a year earlier, before reorganization and restructuring items a year earlier.

Continental Airlines sees bigger revenue hit from Delta fare cuts

Continental Airlines Inc. said Wednesday it faces a bigger decline in revenue than previously expected as a result of big fare cuts by rival Delta Air Lines Inc. The Houston-based airline said Wednesday in a filing with the Securities Exchange and Commission that its revenue will drop $200 million US annually as a result of Delta's January fare cuts. That's more than the previous estimate of $100 million US to $150 million US.

The Canadian Tourism Commission approve increase of $4millions
The Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC) Board of Directors has approved at its last Board meeting increases of $4 million in program budgets for regions generating the highest returns on Canadian marketing investments. In the Asia-Pacific region, this decision will mean a $1 million increase for Japan, $300,000 for China, $200,000 for South Korea and $100,000 for Australia. In Europe/Latin America there will be increases of $1 million for the United Kingdom and $600,000 for Mexico. The U.S. Meetings, Conventions & Incentive Travel program will receive an additional $800,000.

Cathay Pacific Announces 2004 Annual Results
Cathay Pacific Airways today reported its second best full-year results on record with an attributable profit of HK$4,417 million in 2004, compared to HK$1,303 million in 2003. Turnover increased by 32.1% from last year to a record HK$39,065 million. The airline extended its Chinese Mainland network with the introduction of a daily service to Beijing and in early 2005 the launch of new passenger service to Xiamen and freighter service to Shanghai.
