Something new at Transat Distribution Canada: Louis Dessureault is appointed as vice president, operations and marketing
Philippe Sureau, executive vice president at Transat A.T. and president at Transat Distribution Canada (TDC) announced yesterday the nomination of Louis Dessureault to the newly created function of vice president, operations and marketing at Transat Distribution Canada. “Louis Dessureault will have the responsibility of managing the whole TDC operations and marketing activities, that is to say those of Club Voyages, Voyages en Liberté, TravelPlus and exitnow.ca”, said Philippe Sureau. His new sight on the industry, and his experience in the retail trade area as well as in the enterprise and franchise environment will surely be a big plus for the growth of Transat’s distribution sector.

The Atrium Group celebrates its 10th anniversary

On September 10 and 11, the festivities for the Atrium Group’s 10th anniversary will be held at the Fort St-Jean campus. For the occasion, participants can attend different tour wholesaler seminars, technological workshops, various courses and a travel trade show where they can visit tour wholesaler stands and exchange words with them. Also, a medieval fancy dress ball will on the Friday night dinner’s menu, while the Gala Méritas will be closing the Saturday’s night activities.

Qantas confirms British Airways will sell its stake in Australian flag carrier

Qantas confirmed Wednesday that British Airways plans to sell its 18.25 per cent stake in Australia's flag-carrier over the next two days. The stake, which British airways has held for 11 years, is expected to sell for the equivalent of $775 million US. Qantas requested a trading halt Wednesday to continue until the opening bell Friday, saying this would allow the market to absorb the information in an orderly fashion.

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. exercises option to build second Ultra Voyager
Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. today exercised its option to build a second Ultra Voyager ship at the Kvaerner Masa-Yards in Finland. Scheduled for delivery in the spring of 2007, the ship will be operated by the Royal Caribbean International brand. Like its prototype, which is due for delivery in the spring of 2006, the second Ultra Voyager will be roughly 15 percent larger than its Voyager-class counterpart. At 100- percent capacity, she will carry 3,600 guests and 1,400 crew. Despite adverse foreign exchange rates, building a sister ship results in beneficial cost efficiencies and an all-in dollar cost that is essentially the same as the first Ultra Voyager.

Montreal-Trudeau terminal expansion and modernization project progressing quickly
Management of Aéroports de Montréal (ADM) says the Corporation anticipates no problem in delivering the new facilities at Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport on time and within budget. The new international arrivals complex - key element of the "new" Montréal-Trudeau, comprising the new Canada Customs hall and baggage-claim area - will open on November 18 as scheduled.
