| MTB UNVEILS CAMPAIGN FOR WILMA-RAVAGED DESTINATIONS |

Activities include international ad campaign and relaunch event
The Mexico Tourism Board (MTB) has announced an international promotional campaign for destinations affected by Hurricane Wilma beginning November 7,
CEO Francisco Ortiz reported. The $10 million US campaign will include print and TV advertising and focus on relaunching the image of such top destinations as Cancun, Cozumel, Isla Mujeres and the Mayan Riviera, which form part of the travel itinerary of approximately 38 per cent of the international tourists visiting Mexico, said Ortiz.

The American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA), in cooperation with Tourisme Montréal, will begin its four-day 75th World Travel Congress this Sunday, November 6. Some statistics: 2,100 attendees, from 70 countries, have registered so far; 270 exhibiting companies hail from 40 countries; more than half of the agents attending have agencies with more than $1 million in sales per year; nearly 50 reporters from six countries will cover the conference.

Yesterday was reserved for the travel trade as the Toronto Travel & Leisure Show geared up for its weekend consumer event. Included among the more than 170 exhibitors is a strong representation from Ontario resorts, destination CVBs and the large Sears Travel booking area. While numerous suppliers who talked with CTHotNews last night were disappointed with the amount of traffic at yesterday's event, they were hopeful that consumer interest today and over the weekend would be strong. | Petra | The Jordan Tourism Board North America (JTBNA) has maintained a U.S. office for the last 10 years, but its current Canadian tour marks the beginning of a new focus on this market and includes a pledge to partner with and strongly support Canadian agents and tour operators. Speaking at a press briefing at the Delta Chelsea yesterday in Toronto, Gisele Abrahao, JTBNA's Marketing Manager, said "we have had an excellent response from the travel trade in Western Canada," adding that the team was looking forward to meeting with 80 agents and tour operators in Toronto last night and many more when they set up shop at ASTA next week in Montreal.
