WTO: INTERNATIONAL TOURISM ON TRACK FOR STRONG YEAR
Worldwide tourism in the first seven months of 2005 is up an estimated 5.9 per cent over the same period last year, according to a report by the World Tourism Organization (WTO), presented on Monday, at the WTO international conference in Iguazu. The year as a whole is expected to end with an increase of five to six per cent. This will consolidate the growth from last year (+10. 7%), and will also exceed the forecast long-term average growth of four per cent. Leisure tourism has once again outperformed business tourism .

NEW JAZZ JETS SERVICE TORONTO-PRAIRIE ROUTES
Yesterday a new Air Canada Jazz CRJ-705 jet departed for Toronto from Saskatoon while another took off from Regina. The planned schedule enhancements feature more non-stop service made possible by the delivery of next-generation, made-in-Canada aircraft. Four daily non-stop flights will operate Saskatoon-Toronto in October, with three flights operating to Toronto throughout this winter. In addition, three daily non-stop flights will operate Regina-Toronto this winter. Both services will provide international, transborder and domestic connections at Air Canada's largest hub. Shared circle flights requiring a stop in Regina going to or returning from Toronto have been eliminated, resulting in considerably shorter travel time for Saskatoon passengers.

Carnival Cruise Lines' 2,056-passenger Fantasy recently underwent a multi-million-dollar refurbishment and emerged with a host of new and updated features and facilities, including new photo and art galleries, a nine-hole miniature golf course, and completely renovated health and fitness center. The upgrades were completed during a 21-day scheduled dry dock that took place in Norfolk, Va.  The Fantasy resumed its year-round schedule of 3- and 4-day Bahamas cruises from Port Canaveral, Fla., last week.

CZECH REPUBLIC VISA REMINDER
Many travellers remain unaware that visa requirements have been dropped for Canadians travelling to the Czech Republic, says Jitka Klimova, Travel Advisor, Czech Tourist Authority- Czech Tourism in Toronto. Quoting from the Czech Embassy website, czechembassy.org, Klimova advised "Canadian citizens do not require a visa to travel to the Czech Republic for tourist purposes. As of May 1, 2004, holders of valid Canadian passports can enter the Czech Republic for visits up to 90 days.
