| FLash | Auditor clears struggling Alitalia's first half accounts for rescue plan An auditor has approved Alitalia SpA's accounts for the first half of its fiscal year, the struggling state-controlled carrier said Tuesday. Some traders had been concerned that Deloitte & Touche SpA might not sign off on the calculations in Alitalia's rescue plan. Alitalia last month said it posted a 620-million-euro ($787.3-million-US) loss in the first six months of the year, including expenses for a rescue plan that splits the company's core flying business from its service units and cuts the workforce by some 17 per cent. In its report on Alitalia, Deloitte said the Italian Treasury, which owns 62 per cent of the company, will in the coming days pick an adviser for the carrier's privatization. The turnaround plan aims to bring the government's stake down to below 50 per cent. |
