| Laurie Carter |

| Elaine Michaud, Jocelyn McElveen, David Wilkins, Chad Prosser | Canadian trade professionals may think of South Carolina as a destination for independent travellers, but tourism officials from the state have revealed a new focus on supporting the travel agent community. At a Travel South USA reception, held last week in Toronto and sponsored by South Carolina, CTHotNews interviewed Elaine Michaud, International/Travel Agent Sales Manager and Chad Prosser, Director, South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism, both of whom underlined the new emphasis. Michaud was particularly enthusiastic about the launch of the www.MyrtleBeachLovesCanada.com website. "We're excited to be delivering something dedicated to the Canadian Market," she said, describing the site as a great reference tool including a host of discounts for Canadians and a special section for agents in the Groups/Travel Planning section that contains a listing of hotels, restaurants, car rentals and attractions that pay agent commissions. As well The Myrtle Beach Area Vacation Guide lists more than 220 hotel/motel and condo/cottages that pay travel agent commissions.
