| Atrium Group Achieves Growth Target |
|
Atrium Group, now Quebec’s second largest travel agency consortium, has exceeded the target it set last September. The objective was to have 100 members for its 10th anniversary convention, which will take place from September 9th to11th. The Atrium Group started in Laval and grew slowly to include 30 franchisees in its first 6 years. In the last year, it has added 32 new agencies, and now has 107 members operating 3 provinces; 97 in Quebec, 8 in Ontario and 2 in New-Brunswick. |
Last week, Northwest Airlines announced that it would impose a surcharge to travel agencies booking their fares for U.S. domestic flights over the Global Distribution System (GDS). | FLash | | Via Rail employees have ratified a new three-year labour contract that gives them a cumulative wage increase of more than 10 per cent, a union spokesman said Tuesday. The 2,500 members of the Canadian Auto Workers, representing 90 per cent of the Crown corporation's employees, voted 81 per cent in favour of the deal, while the participation rate of voters was 80 per cent. The contract, retroactive to last Jan. 1, provides for a wage increase of three per cent the first year, four per cent the second year and another three per cent in the final year, said spokesman Abe Rosner. Workers will get a long-term disability plan, which will cost them nothing. There will also be more staff on trains. |
