Israel Government Tourist Office hosts 19 Canadian journalists in Israel from Feb. 16 to Feb. 25, 2009

The Israel Government Tourist Office (IGTO) recently hosted their largest Canadian press trip ever, with 19 journalists participating in an extensive tour of the country from Feb. 16 to Feb. 25, 2009. The IGTO’s Director General and Consul-Tourism, Oded Grofman, joined a diverse group of journalists from Ontario, British Columbia and Saskatchewan on the press trip. Tour guide Rivka Cohen Berman provided the commentary on all the sights, sounds and tastes we were to experience.  With approximately 400,000 inhabitants, Tel Aviv is the cultural and commercial centre of Israel; it will celebrate its 100th birthday in 2009. UK & IRELAND DEALS WITH FLYGLOBESPAN
Flyglobespan offers deals to the UK and Ireland starting from $109; first-ever service from Halifax to Glasgow to begin May 27
Flyglobespan has announced one-way fares starting at $109 plus taxes from Hamilton and Halifax and $149 plus taxes from Calgary and Vancouver. Flyglobespan will begin its third season of operating seasonal flights from Canada to the UK and Ireland on May 27, 2009 with its first-ever service from Halifax to Glasgow.   Other weekly flights from Hamilton, Calgary and Vancouver begin in early June 2009. Travel agents earn up to 10 per cent commission on all North American flyglobespan bookings and must have an online account in order to register the bookings by clicking on the “Agents Login” section on flyglobespan.ca. Disney Cruise Line announces “Kids Sail 50% Off” offer for most sailings through May 14, 2009
Disney Cruise Line has announced a "Kids Sail for 50% Off" offer. This promtion is available on all Disney Cruise Line itineraries, including three-, four- and seven-night sailings to the Bahamas and the Caribbean. Guests 12 and under can sail for half the price of a current cruise rate as quoted on disneycruise.com when accompanied by two full-fare paying guests within the same stateroom. Riviera Nayarit announces several hotel promotions; free night and free child packages available
Riviera Nayarit has announced several hotel properties offering free nights and family-friendly packages. CANADIANS FLOCK TO JAMAICA
The Jamaica Tourist Board reports 37.7% increase in Canadian arrivals this January
The Jamaica Tourist Board is reporting a 37.7 per cent increase in Canadian tourist arrivals in January 2009 as compared to the same time period in 2008.  A total of 39,960 total stopover arrivals from Canada visited Jamaica in the first month of the year. Jamaica saw the sharpest increase from British Columbia, a direct result of direct flights from Vancouver to Montego Bay. Jamaica’s strongest number of visitors came from Ontario with 21,245 visitors, a 28.6 per cent increase; Quebec with 7,676 visitors, a 67.6 per cent increase; and Alberta with 4,126 visitors, and a 31.2 per cent increase. ETIHAD GETS NEW TERMINAL
Etihad terminal 3 now open at Abu Dhabi International Airport
Etihad Airways has announced that the new Etihad terminal 3 is now open at Abu Dhabi International Airport. The terminal will feature dedicated check-in desks for Diamond First, Pearl Business and Coral Economy guests, as well as a range of duty-free shopping options and a lounge. Guests traveling to Toronto, Canada will check in through Etihad Terminal 3 from March 9, 2009. All other destinations will continue to operate form terminal 1.
