Named for the Zulu word for millipede, the Shongololo Train is more aptly described as a travelling hotel which incorporates touring experiences by day. The Shongololo operates two 17-day train experiences between Johannesburg and Cape Town on the Good Hope train, and between Johannesburg and Victoria Falls on the Southern Cross train. Another record-breaking year in 2008 with 3 million global visitors, over 71,000 from Canada

| Oded Grofman, Consul-Tourism and Director for Canada, IGTO | | The Israel Government Tourist Office (IGTO) has cause to celebrate after tallying their visitor numbers for 2008. Israel experienced an all-time record breaking year for 2008 with 3,031,100 total visitors (32 per cent more than 2007 and 13 per cent more than the previous record year of 2000). Over 71,000 Canadians visited Israel in 2008, an increase of more than 20 per cent over 2007, the previous record-breaking year. Oded Grofman, Consul for Tourism and Director for Canada, noted, “The year presents us with challenges due to the global economic crisis that is also impacting the pocketbooks of all Canadians. We are working closely with our airline and sales channel partners across Canada to reach our 2009 target of 80,000 Canadian visitors to Israel." A media campaign will be launched this spring, along with the largest ever press trip to Israel, with 19 Canadian journalists participating.
