Air Canada launches Sydney, Nova Scotia - Toronto seasonal service beginning May 1
Air Canada recently announced that on May 1, 2009, it will launch daily seasonal non-stop service between Sydney, Nova Scotia and Toronto. Beginning May 1, 2009, Air Canada flight AC8794 will depart Toronto at 20:35 and arrive in Sydney at 23:59. Air Canada flight AC8795 will depart Sydney at 07:00 and arrive in Toronto at 08:45. Flights will be operated by Air Canada Jazz onboard 50-seat CRJ jet aircraft.

Hong Kong welcomed 29.5M visitors in 2008, with most growth from Asia-Pacific region; mid- and long-haul destinations post decline
The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has released the final visitor arrivals figures for 2008. Globally, a total of 29,506,616 visitors came to Hong Kong, marking an increase of 4.7 per cent over the 28.17 million arrivals welcomed in 2007. The Asia-Pacific region posted the most growth, especially in Mainland China arrivals - an 8.9 per cent increase; a decline in arrivals from mid- and long-haul destinations, including Canada, was also recorded. Canada posted a 4.1 per cent decrease in arrivals. For the year of 2007, Canada posted 395,167 arrivals compared with 379,046. Of the more than 29.5 million Hong Kong visitors in 2008, almost 17.32 million (58.7 per cent) stayed overnight, 2.2 per cent fewer than the 60.9 per cent who stayed in 2007. Air Canada and WestJet announce January traffic results
For the month of January, Air Canada reported a record load factor of 78.1 per cent on a consolidated basis with Jazz, versus 77.9 per cent in January 2008, an increase of 0.2 percentage points. System traffic decreased 8.5 per cent on a capacity reduction of 8.8 per cent system wide. Air Canada mainline reported a load factor of 79.4 per cent in January 2009 compared to 78.7 per cent in January 2008; an increase of 0.7 percentage points. The mainline carrier flew 7.7 per cent fewer revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in January 2009 than in January 2008 on a capacity decrease of 8.5 per cent.

Occidental’s Royal Hideaway Playacar has announced the opening of the first Chef’s Table in Mexico’s Riviera Maya. Located inside the recently remodeled Las Ventanas restaurant kitchen, the Chef’s Table will offer an exclusive menu designed by executive chef, Raul Vaquerizo. Guests will be also able to observe the chef and his team live-in-action as they prepare their menu via plasma screen television. Equipped with a microphone and headset, the chef will be able to communicate the entire process as well as describe his techniques as he prepares their meal.

Disneyland’s “it’s a small world” attraction to reopen with enhancements on Feb. 6, 2009
One of Disneyland’s longest-running attractions returns to Fantasyland, Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, when “it’s a small world” reopens. With the premiere of a new “Spirit of America” scene, new musical enhancements and a new look for some of the attraction’s familiar child dolls, “it’s a small world” will once again take guests of all ages on “the happiest cruise that ever sailed.” For the first time, guests will be able to find some of the child dolls dressed as their favourite Disney characters, in the countries where their stories take place.
