‘Sweetheart’ group deal will waive fuel surcharge for your new group bookings until Feb. 14, 2009
Sunwing is offering travel agents a sweet incentive to help close group sales this February. The company is waiving the fuel surcharge for all new group bookings taken between Jan. 27 and Valentines Day, Feb. 14, 2009. This represents a savings as much as $200 per couple. The savings apply to all gateways, on 7- and 14-night vacation packages to Mexico, the Caribbean, Costa Rica, Las Vegas and Florida. The offer applies to all groups departing between May 20 and October 31. Under Sunwing’s generous group policies, as few as 10 people travelling together are eligible for group rates and a host of other benefits.

Delta Hotels and Air Canada partner to offer Delta customers 15% off Air Canada flights
Delta Hotels has announced an exclusive partnership with Air Canada. The partnership provides guests who book and stay at any Delta hotel or resort with 15 per cent off their airfare with Air Canada to any destination where a Delta hotel is located. This 15 per cent discount offer is available on Air Canada's Tango Plus, Latitude and Executive Class fares for guests who have booked to stay at Delta from February 4, 2009 until June 30, 2009. "Delta is delighted to be the first Canadian hotel brand to offer this type of savings to our guests," said Hank Stackhouse, President and CEO, Delta Hotels.

| AIR PASSENGERS TO PAY AFTER FUNDING CUT? |

Airline passengers could face higher costs after a funding cut to a federal subsidy for post 9/11 airport security. The Toronto Star reports the plan to phase out $33 million to be delivered over the next three years was contained in last week's federal budget. Chris Day, a spokesman for Transport Minister John Baird, says funding for the Airport Police Assistance Program will dry up on Jan. 1, 2010. The cut means Toronto's Pearson airport will lose about $3.2 million in annual revenue, for example.

| CTC BUDGET NEWS |

Canadian Tourism Commission welcomes federal budget news; increased funding targets domestic travel and priority international markets Canadians will be encouraged to travel within Canada with an increase in funding to the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC) outlined in the federal government's budget. In addition to maintaining the CTC's $76 million funding, the budget document has earmarked $20 million for each of the next two years to expand investment into priority international markets and to encourage Canadians to spend their travel dollars at home. Other tourism-related initiatives in the budget include the creation of a National Trails System, an upgrade to National Parks visitors' facilities such as campgrounds and visitor centres, an upgrade to National Historic Site, and cultural festivals.
