| Ashish Sanghrajka | | Yesterday evening at Toronto’s Courtyard Marriott, Ashish Sanghrajka, President, Big Five Tours & Expeditions invited agents and media to get to know his company. Sanghrajka, who works out of the tour operator’s Palm beach, Florida Head Office, wanted an opportunity to meet Canadian travel agents, say thank you, and highlight why they should put their trust with Big Five by booking with the tour operator. The evening also gave a quick glimpse at the company’s 24-hour concierge service to launch soon, as well as the Precious Journeys program, a 20-page catalogue designed to accommodate today’s traveller travelling on a different budget. According to Sanghrajka, the new Precious Journeys collection, available this week, will include eight programs. It features pricing that is based on the slowing economy.

| AC EXPANDS CALGARY SERVICE |

New flights with Air Canada from Calgary to San Diego; Portland; Whitehorse and London, ON Air Canada has announced the introduction of four new non-stop routes from Calgary. Starting May 15, 2009, Air Canada will offer the only daily non-stop service to San Diego, California. On June 1, daily non-stop flights to London, Ontario, and seasonal service to Whitehorse, Yukon will be launched, and on June 15, new non-stop flights from Calgary to Portland, Oregon will begin. Sunwing adds famous, newly renovated Fontainebleau hotel in Miami Beach
Now that its new owners have lavished $1 billion US on the Fontainebleau, Sunwing Vacations has added the legendary Rat Pack hangout to its lineup of Florida hotels. The Miami Beach landmark has always been one of the grand dames of American hotels, now more so than ever. The “new” Fontainebleau features 1,500 rooms on a 22-acre setting in the heart of Miami Beach. There are six restaurants (including three operated by internationally-renowned chefs), four bars and a nightclub. Public areas include the 45,000-square foot lobby: the spa alone totals 40,000 square feet.

Four new agencies in Ontario and Alberta join Transat Distribution
Transat Distribution Canada has announced that four new members have joined its network in January. The agencies are Lapierre Travel, in Beamsville, Ontario; Can Air World Travel, in Ottawa, Ontario; Imagine Travel, in New Hamburg, Ontario; and Paradise Seekers Travel, in Slave Lake, Alberta. “In 2008, more than 30 new members joined our network. We believe that the value of our various business proposals is very interesting and suitable for still independent agencies, particularly in an environment facing multiple challenges. We are constantly working closely with the Transat family to provide enhanced features and benefits to our members and their customers.” said Yves Lalumière, Vice President, network, Transat Distribution Canada.

Costa Cruise Lines launches February travel agent promotion; features enhanced amenities, discounts and guaranteed 17% commission
Costa Cruise Line has launched a new group promotion for travel agents, complete with enhanced amenities and discounts. Specials are available on 2009-2010 Caribbean sailings and Fall Europe 2009 sailings during the month of February. Amenities for the Caribbean 2009-2010 and Fall Europe 2009 season include a guaranteed 17 per cent commission, a complimentary onboard cocktail party, and no group deposit required for three months. In addition, for each Caribbean 2009-2010 sailing, groups will earn one tour conductor credit for every nine passengers booked and for each Fall Europe 2009 sailing, groups will earn one tour conductor credit for every 15 guests booked.
