Hugh Boyle announces that Go Travel Direct service to Europe will not begin until 2010
Hugh Boyle, Go Travel Direct, has announced that he will be cancelling plans to offer flights this year from five Canadian cities to Europe. According to Boyle, his new aim is to start European service in 2010 and target consumers in Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Halifax and St. John's, and although Finnair won't be flying from Canada to London and Paris this summer, Go Travel has lined up XL Airways of France to provide Montreal-Paris service.

Icelandair announces sixth new transatlantic flight to Toronto schedule for 2009
Icelandair has announced the addition of a sixth transatlantic flight to its Toronto schedule for 2009. Scheduled flights from this North American gateway operate seasonally beginning April 1 through October 23, 2009, with the additional sixth flight operating June 20 through September 4, 2009. “The addition of our sixth flight demonstrates the Canadian market’s phenomenal response to the Iceland product and our efficient and easy connections to Europe,” Robert Keddy, Icelandair Sales Manager – Canada. “It also reinforces Icelandair’s commitment to Toronto and Halifax and their continuous growth for the future.”

Visa announces that enhanced data reporting is now available on Canada WestJet transactions made on commercial cards
Visa Inc. announced today in Canada that enhanced data reporting is now available for WestJet transactions made on Visa commercial cards issued by banks that support enhanced data reporting. WestJet is the newest vendor to provide enhanced data for purchases made with Visa Business, Visa Purchasing or Visa Corporate cards in Canada. Enhanced data refers to transactional details beyond the basic financial information usually provided on card statements.

Jamaica Tourist Board announces ground breaking for new Montego Bay Convention Centre

| Rose Hall Great House | | Ground broke on Saturday, February 14 in Rose Hall, St. James to begin construction of the Montego Bay Convention Centre. The facility will be built on 35 acres of land opposite the Shoppes at Rose Hall (between the Half Moon Golf Course and Rose Hall Great House) and is aimed at strengthening Jamaica’s participation in the growing groups and convention market. The project is financed through a $51US million loan agreement between the Government of Jamaica and the China Import and Export Bank. Construction is expected to be completed in 20 months.
