Yesterday evening at Toronto’s Sassafraz Restaurant, the Colorado Tourism Office invited media to attend a presentation on Colorado and its offerings. The Toronto presentation is one of two events that the Colorado Tourism Office will be hosting in Canada, the other to be held tomorrow in Montreal. On hand to discuss the state was Diana Carey, International Marketing Manager, Colorado Tourism Office, who spoke to TRAVELHotNews regarding her mission for the evening. TRANSAT AND CANJET’S 5-YEAR PARTNERSHIP
Transat and CanJet Airlines announce 5-year partnership for narrow-body aircraft; Transat and WestJet terminate similar partnership due to expire on Oct. 31, 2010
Transat A.T. Inc. and CanJet Airlines have entered into a 5-year partnership agreement, effective May 1, 2009, to April 30, 2014, with two subsequent one-year renewal options. The agreement allows tour operator Transat Tours Canada, a Transat business unit operating under the Transat Holidays and Nolitours brands, to charter CanJet narrow-body Boeing 737-800 aircraft flying out of more than 20 Canadian cities to approximately 20 sun destinations. Meanwhile, Transat and WestJet have mutually agreed to terminate, at the end of the current winter season, a similar partnership originally due to expire on October 31, 2010. JAMAICA’S FIVE-YEAR GROWTH
Jamaica announces five years of continual growth from Canada
The Jamaica Tourist Board has recently announced that Jamaica is celebrating its fifth straight year of growth in visitor arrivals from Canada with a 23.9 per cent increase in 2008 (45,543 more visitors than in 2007). The number of visitors to Jamaica from Canada has doubled in the past five years.  In 2003, the destination welcomed 95,263 Canadian visitors; while, in 2008, 236,193 Canadians visited the country. Last year also included the addition of more flights out of traditional key markets including Toronto and Montreal, and the launch of the first-ever direct flight from Vancouver. “With five years of steady growth, Canada has solidified its place as the second most important outbound market to Jamaica after the United States,” says Sandra Scott, Regional Director Canada, Jamaica Tourist Board.
