MSC Cruises has made some minor changes to the route taken by MSC Melody on its three-week cruise from Durban, South Africa to Genoa, Italy, to maintain greater distance from the Somalian coastline. As a result, MSC has slightly modified the itinerary of its cruises on MSC Melody from South Africa to Italy in order to ensure total security and peace of mind for guests and crew. The new route is about 400 miles longer than the previous itinerary, maintaining a greater distance from the coast of Somalia. To allow for the extra time at sea, MSC Melody will no longer call at the Egyptian port of Safaga. The new itinerary also offers more time in the Seychelles with an overnight stop at Port Victoria. | DELTA'S Q1 LOSS |
|
U.S. airline Delta posts US$794 million first quarter loss Canadian Press
Delta Air Lines Inc., the world's biggest airline operator, said Tuesday it was instituting a US$50 fee for most passengers to check a second bag on an international flight - a first among major U.S. carriers - as it reported a $794-million first-quarter loss due to the weak economy and bad bets on fuel hedges. Atlanta-based Delta said its fee was effective Tuesday for travel beginning July. Delta previously said it will reduce international capacity by 10 per cent beginning in September. As a result, in the December 2009 quarter, Delta expects system capacity to be down six per cent to eight per cent and international capacity to be down nine per cent to 11 per cent, year-over-year.

| THE BRITISH ARE (STILL) COMING |
|
Personal connections are helping to keep Brits coming to Canada; Britain is largest potential overseas market Canadian Press
The sinking pound is keeping more Britons close to home for vacations but Canada is hanging in, thanks to personal connections, says a new report, conducted by Harris/Decima Research. The latest Global Tourism Watch report from the Canadian Tourism Commission notes the pound is continuing to slip lower in currency markets and as a result, visits to Canada declined by two per cent during the first seven months of 2008. That compares with a five per cent increase in 2007. But with a survey showing that 16 million-plus Britons remain interested in visiting Canada, the U.K. market still has the greatest potential of all overseas markets for Canada in terms of travel volumes.
