OLYMPIC AIRLINES STAFF PROTEST Canadian Press Hundreds of protesting Olympic Airlines workers walked onto the main runway of Athens International Airport Tuesday to protest plans to sell the troubled state-owned airline. The employees, including pilots, air stewards, technicians and support staff, stopped planes from taking off or landing there, but the airport said flights were not disrupted as planes were diverted to a second runway. Olympic's 8,100 staff are not guaranteed jobs when the airline is sold, but about 4,600 salaried employees will be offered public sector jobs as part of a compensation package worth 1.2 billion euros ($1.74 billion). |

| ISRAEL EXPECTS ANOTHER RECORD YEAR |
Oren Drori, Deputy Director of Marketing, Israel Government Tourist Office holds press conference to discuss the year's success Charmaine Pang
| Oren Drori, Deputy Director of Marketing, with Oded Grofman, Director - Canada, IGTO | | Last Thursday, the Israel Government Tourist Office (IGTO) hosted a group of journalists to discuss their visitation numbers for 2008, their expectations for the close of the year, the impact of their marketing strategies for the year and their plans for the future. Oren Drori, Deputy Director of Marketing for the IGTO, arrived from Israel to share some of the latest statistics. Drori cited last year's numbers showing that 75,000 Canadians visited Israel last year, another record-breaking year. It's important to note that the above number represents those holding Canadian passports only. When factoring in Canadian residents who use U.S. passports, Israeli passports or other documentation, the actual number of visitors from Canada will be much higher. For the first half of 2008, the number of visitors from Canada rose by 30 per cent.

| TEXAS UPDATE ON IKE |
Most areas of Texas were unaffected and continue to welcome visitors
| Houston | | While federal, state, and local officials continue the recovery phase in areas affected by Hurricane Ike, other areas of Texas - including Dallas/Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio, the Texas Panhandle, the Big Bend Region, the South Texas Plains, and the beaches of South Padre Island and Corpus Christi-Port Aransas - were not affected by the storm and continue to welcome visitors. Texas Tourism recommends that travellers in Texas and those with plans to visit the state confirm hotel reservations. Coastal areas from Surfside Beach to the Texas-Louisiana border, including Galveston, were heavily impacted. Travellers should closely monitor the current situation in these communities before traveling to them. Keep reading for full details.
