‘Sex in the City’-themed fall product preview encourages agents to ‘Go Big’
Monday afternoon The Total Vacations’ “Sex and the City” Go ‘Big’ with Total Vacations” 2008-2009 product launch stopped off in Toronto. The show began in Kitchener, then travelled to London and Windsor, and will continue on to hit Niagara Falls, Hamilton, Barrie, Ottawa, Montreal, Kingston, Calgary, Edmonton and Halifax. The Toronto show received approximately 250 agents and showcased around 48 suppliers from the USA, Canada, Caribbean, Mexico Central and South America. The show also featured seminars by El Salvador, Aruba, Colonial Mexico, Riviera Nayarit and the Cayman Islands in various breakout rooms. New destinations for Total Vacations include: Brasil, Venezuela, Guatemala, Ecuador, Philadelphia and Kentucky.

Nolitours and Transat Holidays offer ACTA members additional benefits
The Association of Canadian Travel Agencies (ACTA) has announced the addition of new benefits for ACTA ID Cardholders, courtesy of Nolitours and Transat Holidays. Effective September 8, 2008, both Nolitours and Transat Holidays will offer an additional one per cent discount and an additional three per cent respectively, off select products. This new benefit is on top of the agent commission already being offered to travel professionals. Also, for all new ACTA ID Cardholders who enroll between September 8, 2008 and April 30, 2009, Transat Holidays will offer a $50 travel voucher which can be used on their next personal holiday.

The Jamaica Tourist Board announces more non-stop Canadian departures
The Jamaica Tourist Board has announced more non-stop flights departing from Canadian gateways this winter season. The destination will also have weekly arrivals from Vancouver for the first time. Air service from Vancouver will be provided by Air Transat, Thomas Cook/Sunquest and Air Canada Vacations. “The destination has made tremendous progress in raising its profile in Western Canada and we are building on a solid foundation of support from our travel partners,” says Sandra Scott, Regional Director Canada, Jamaica Tourist Board. | ALL 3 CAYMAN ISLANDS OPEN FOR BUSINESS |

The Cayman Islands lifts restrictions and announces Hurricane Guarantee
All three Cayman Islands are now open for business after the lifting of restrictions on visitors travelling to Little Cayman following the passage of Hurricane Gustav. Guest accommodations are limited however on the tiny island of Little Cayman with Southern Cross Club, Paradise Villas and Pirates Point closed for annual maintenance until the end of October; and Little Cayman Beach Resort closed for repairs until September 26. CLIA and American Express join to offer agent incentives for “World’s Largest Cruise Night”
CLIA’s World’s Largest Cruise Night (WLCN) is fast approaching on October 16, 2008, and travel agents now have a new incentive for taking part. Every time the client of a participating CLIA-member travel agent makes a booking of $2,400 or more with any CLIA-member cruise line, the agent will receive a $10 value American Express-branded prepaid card. Payment must be made on any American Express Card and the booking window to qualify is between October 16, 2008 and October 23, 2008. Agents can visit CLIA’s online WLCN Resource Center and fill in the American Express Booking Bonus form to redeem a card.

Norwegian Cruise Line offers global commission payment for travel partners
As part of its continuing commitment to Partnership 2.0, a company-wide initiative to strengthen its relationship with travel partners, Norwegian Cruise Line has announced the launch of global commission payments. The global commission payment (GCP) program will help NCL’s travel partners receive their commission in a more timely and consistent manner. “Through Partnership 2.0, we continue to listen to our travel partners and implement new programs and processes that make NCL a better business partner,” said Colin Veitch, NCL’s CEO. “By offering the global commission payment program, we are making it easier and faster for travel partners to receive their commissions and other payments.”
