ALITALIA INVESTORS WALK OUT Canadian Press Alitalia's newly appointed administrator, Augusto Fantozzi, asked the pope to keep the carrier in his prayers while seeing the pontiff off on a trip to France early Friday. Pope Benedict XVI responded, ``I have been praying for you for a while,'' the news agency ANSA reported. Less than two hours later, a group of Italian investors who had been prepared to inject $1B euros ($1.4B) into the loss-making airline walked away from what were billed as do-or-die talks seeking union approval for a plan to relaunch the company, which was declared bankrupt on Aug. 29 to seek protection from creditors. |
