The Canadian Travel Council Promoting Italy and the Italian Government Tourist Board hosts first annual symposium in Campania, Italy; agents learn the truth about Italy’s hidden gem Lisa Raffaele
As part of an initiative to showcase a side of Italy that is less familiar to Canadian tourists, the Canadian Travel Council Promoting Italy (CTCPI), along with the Italian Government Tourist Board (ENIT), hosted an Italy symposium from November 7 to 12 to the region of Campania. The first annual Italy Symposium 2008 brought 86 tour operators, travel agents and media from Ontario, to areas of Campania that have been publicized in a negative light in recent times, as well as areas that have been overshadowed by Italy’s most popular tourist hot spots such as: Milan, Florence, Venice and Rome.

Peter Baumgartner, Etihad Airways’ executive vice president marketing and product | | Etihad Airways has been voted ‘airline of the year’ at the 2008 Aviation Business Awards. The Abu Dhabi-based airline picked up the award at a ceremony at the Le Royal Meridien Hotel in Abu Dhabi, hosted by Aviation Business magazine and attended by more than 250 of the region’s leading aviation professionals. James Hogan, Etihad Airways’ chief executive, said: “This year has been an exceptionally busy one for the airline and international recognition such as this award confirms our position as an accomplished player on the global aviation map.”
