CUBA'S 2 MILLIONTH
Marcel Gauthier of Jonquiere, Quebec (pictured in red shirt) stepped off his Sunwing flight from Montreal to Cayo Coco in Cuba on November 14 and was greeted by Cuban dignitaries welcoming him as the country's two millionth visitor in 2008. This is the fifth consecutive year the island has welcomed over two million guests from around the world, but the earliest this milestone for the country's tourism industry has been achieved.

Travel Alberta unveils new creative campaign at Union Station

Travel Alberta held an event at M Lounge in downtown Toronto last evening. Various travel partners were invited to learn more about the new winter creative campaign aimed directly at consumers. In attendance were representatives from Ski Banff Lake Louise Sunshine, and Venture Communications who are managing the campaign. Starting today, commuters passing through Union Station will be able to get a real life experience of “Canada’s Rocky Mountain Playground”. A series of ‘living billboards’ will allow consumers to explore ‘inside’ the three-dimensional ads which will appear as if they were walking right onto the slopes. [Full text and pictures]

LITTLE CAYMAN OPENS POST PALOMA
Little Cayman resorts reopen post-Paloma; Cayman Brac sustains significant damage, and Grand Cayman continues with business as usual
The tiny idyllic island of Little Cayman is ready to receive visitors again post-Paloma. Beginning yesterday, with the reopening of Southern Cross Club and Little Cayman Beach Resort and the resumption of regular flight schedules with Cayman Airways Express, the island is open for business. Grand Cayman, the largest of the three islands, continues to welcome guests. Having felt few effects from Hurricane Paloma, as the system passed 30 miles to the east of Grand Cayman on November 8, the island is busy receiving guests at air and sea ports. CARNIVAL TO INCREASE NY CAPACITY
Carnival Cruise Lines announces increase in seasonal 2010 New York sailings
Carnival Cruise Lines will increase capacity on its seasonal cruise program from New York in 2010 with the 2,978-passenger Carnival Glory scheduled to operate a variety of four and five-day Atlantic Canada voyages from June to September, followed by a series of five week-long fall foliage cruises. Four-day cruises departing Thursdays feature a call at Saint John, New Brunswick and scenic cruising in the Bay of Fundy, while five-day cruises departing on Mondays and Saturdays include stops at Saint John and Halifax, Nova Scotia. The program commences with a four-day voyage departing June 6, 2010 (a one-time Sunday departure). ARUBA’S $500M RENOS
Aruba Tourism Authority announces $500 million in renovations and touirsm developments
The Aruba Tourism Authority (ATA) has announced nearly a $500 million investment in recent tourism upgrades, which will continue through 2011.  In addition to upgrades on existing hotels and resorts, Aruba continues to develop of new tourism products in response to high demand. Some investments include: Air service, a new Cunucu Arubiano Eco-Lodge open for business, the Hyatt Regency Aruba completes a $20 million renovation project, the Westin Resort, Aruba, completes a $22 million resort-wide refurbishment, the Renaissance Aruba Resort and Casino opens new Okeanos Spa and the Holiday Inn Resort Aruba expands their kids program. DR NAMED GOLF DESTINATION OF THE YEAR
The Dominican Republic was named the "Golf Destination of the Year for the Caribbean and Latin America" by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO). The award was presented to Francisco Javier Garcia, the DR Minister of Tourism, at the 2008 International Golf Travel Market's (IGTM) annual meeting held Nov. 17 to 20 in Marbella, Spain.
