| Manuel Morrero and Elias Bestard with the Cuban ambassador | | At Toronto’s Old Mill yesterday, the Cuba Tourist Board hosted a luncheon for the travel trade in celebration of reaching their two millionth visitor this year. Minister Manuel Morrero was in attendance and took the opportunity to thank the Canadian travel trade professional for their support in selling and promoting Cuba. With 665,000 visitors from Canada alone this year, Morerro noted that in spite of hurricanes and the current financial and economic crisis, Cuba has scene 11 per cent growth in arrival numbers till October of this year.

Maison de la France launched their new France Guide Prestige 2009 yesterday evening to a group of tour operators and media at Toronto’s Fifth Street Grill. The new France Guide will include: travel experiences like: cognac tasting, gastronomic finds, and learning French in school. Accompanying the France Guide Prestige 2009 was the unveiling of France’s new logo, one that Caroline Putnoki, Maison de la France’s newly appointed director said tries to embody all France’s unique values. According to Putnoki the countries reputation is gaining momentum. France is currently the leading tourism destination in terms of arrivals, welcoming 82 million foreign visitors in 2007.

CITC’s 13th annual student conference draws over 500 to the Old Mill in Toronto
CITC held its 13th Annual Students-in-Travel Conference and Trade Show at the Old Mill in Toronto, on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008. Four hundred and fifty students from travel programs throughout the province registered for the event, representing Windsor, London, Sudbury, Ottawa, Kingston, Belleville, Hamilton, Oakville, Mississauga, Markham and Toronto. Thirty educators accompanied the students.
