Visas no longer needed for citizens of Poland, Slovakia, Lithuania, Hungary Canadian Press Citizens of Poland, Slovakia, Lithuania and Hungary will no longer require visas to visit Canada. The easing of visa restrictions was announced Saturday by Immigration Minister Diane Finley. She said the visa-free status for the four countries will take effect immediately. Some 33,300 Poles came to Canada on short-term visas in 2007. Poland lifted visa requirements for Canadians in 2004, when it joined the European Union. Finley said the move will help bolster the strong relationship Canada already enjoys with the four countries.

| U.S. SEES DOUBLE-DIGIT DECLINE IN OVERSEAS VISITORS |
U.S. lost 11% visitors from 2000-2007; translates to a loss of 50M visitors
New Department of Commerce data reveal that the United States continues to suffer from a decline in overseas arrivals despite a worldwide boom in international travel and an extraordinarily favorable exchange rate. According to industry estimates, year-end data will reveal that the United States, despite a modest increase over 2006, welcomed 11 percent fewer overseas visitors in 2007 than in 2000. More significantly, the United States welcomed 10 million fewer overseas visitors in 2007 than it would have if it simply kept pace with post-9/11 worldwide long-haul travel trends. "The United States has a serious problem that deserves serious attention in Congress," said Roger Dow, President and CEO of the Travel Industry Association. "Despite the fact that America is 'on sale,' we welcomed fewer overseas visitors in 2007 than we did in 1997. We need change - it's time to put the welcome mat at America's front door."
