Transat Holidays’ latest press trip to Germany and Belgium, which took place from May 14-22, 2008, effortlessly adhered to a packed itinerary throughout the eight-day multi-destination tour. Germany lives up to its reputation for efficiency and organization. Arriving in Frankfurt and moving south and then west to Brussels, the trip didn’t follow any packages offered by Transat Holidays. But to some extent, that was the point. “We’re known for our package deals but there’s also the flexibility to create your own itinerary,” says Erin Oddleifson, director of marketing in Ontario and Atlantic Canada. “The options are available.”

| SAY “I DO” IN CUBA |

Destination weddings, honeymoons in Cuba are increasingly popular
The Cuba Tourist Board has made note of a rising trend in the number of Canadians travelling to Cuba for destination weddings. This is due mainly to the variety of wedding packages available. The process is simple, economical and efficient, offering brides and grooms-to-be a “safe and romantic” environment for the wedding of their dreams. Sol Melia Hotels are among the most popular wedding packages providers and they have confirmed a 12 per cent increase in the number of weddings in 2007 with the celebration of 1, 070 weddings at their resorts in the island. Paradisus Rio de Oro in Holguin is the most popular property with a total of 234 weddings, followed by Melia Cayo Guillermo (in Cayo Guillermo) and and Sol Palmeras in Varadero. Canadians represent 53 per cent of the newlyweds followed by those from the U.K. Read on for statistics about honeymoons.
