Trafalgar took 10 lucky travel agents from across Canada on a fun-filled trip to sunny California. The agents who won the ‘It’s All About You’ contest got to stay at the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn in Sonoma, California from Apr. 24-28, 2008. AC JAZZ ADDS NEW OTTAWA ROUTES

Air Canada, through its regional affiliate Jazz, launched yesterday new non-stop year-round flights between Ottawa and four new markets: the only twice daily, year-round non-stop service between Ottawa and Washington (Reagan National), D.C.; and the only daily, year-round non-stop service between Ottawa and Saskatoon, Thunder Bay and Charlottetown. The Ottawa-Washington flight flies  twice daily, with year-round non-stop service between Ottawa and Washington National. The Ottawa-Saskatoon flight runs daily, year-round non-stop service using 75-seat, Bombardier CRJ-705 regional jet aircraft. Read on for more information and detailed schedules. TUI ADDS A ‘CELEBRITY’ TO ITS FLEET

Celebrity Galaxy will be renamed when it joins TUI's fleet
Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Galaxy will become the first ship of TUI Cruises, a new cruise brand established through a joint venture between Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. and TUI AG.  “We are very pleased to have Celebrity Galaxy become the first ship in the new TUI Cruises fleet,” said TUI Cruises CEO Richard J. Vogel. TUI Cruises is designed for German-speaking guests seeking a contemporary/premium cruise experience. The onboard product will be custom-tailored to German tastes in food, entertainment and amenities. Celebrity Galaxy will complete its scheduled sailings through the March 2, 2009, itinerary. It will enter service for TUI Cruises in May 2009 under a new name, and will sail in the Baltic in the summer season, and in the Caribbean in the winter. [Full text and pictures]


ARIZONA OFFICE OF TOURISM SEEKS BIDS
Arizona Office of Tourism seeks new trade and PR representation in Canada
Yesterday afternoon, TRAVELHotNews.com spoke to Jennifer Sutcliffe, Travel Industry Marketing Manager for the Arizona Office of Tourism (AOT) in Phoenix. She confirmed that the AOT is seeking new trade and public relations representation in Canada. The formal solicitation will be coming out soon. The trade and public relations accounts are separate, so interested parties may bid on one or both accounts. The process is not officially underway; however, any interested parties may contact Mary Ellen Kane at the Arizona Office of Tourism for more details on how to bid. CZECH TOURISM IN QUEBEC CITY
Visit ‘Czech House’ during the 2008 World Hockey Championships from May 1-18, 2008

Czech Tourism has announced the opening of a temporary office in Quebec City to coincide with the 2008 World Hockey Championship in Canada from May 1-May 18, 2008. The temporary office will be located at 7 Rue Couillard in Quebec City and will be open seven days a week from 9AM to 6PM. EMIRATES PROFITS SKY-HIGH
The Emirates Group today reported its 20th consecutive year of net profit, notching a new profit record despite soaring oil prices and challenging business conditions in the second half of its 2007-08 fiscal year. Group net profits increased 54.1 per cent to US$ 1.45B for the financial year ended 31st March 2008, on revenues of $ 11.2 billion compared to the previous year’s $ 8.5B.
BONAIRE RECEIVES SUSTAINABLE TOURISM AWARD
The island of Bonaire is the recipient of the prestigious Islands Magazine/Caribbean Tourism Organization 2008 Sustainable Tourism Award.  Bonaire was awarded the honor in recognition of their longstanding commitment and leadership role in marine conservation and for their proactive measures in protecting the marine environment.
PHILIPPINES’ CANADIAN ARRIVALS RISE BY 18%
After a record tourism year in 2007, the Philippines continues to attract an increasing number of visitors from North America.  Despite the perceived economic slowdown, visitors from the U.S. remain a sizeable share of inbound tourism, posting a 7.1 percent increase during the first two months of 2008, surpassing figures from the same period last year.  Canadian tourist arrivals contributed a staggering 18.7 growth percentage, bringing the total increase for North America to 9.7 percent.
