AC, JAZZ LOAD FACTOR DROPS
Canadian Press
Air Canada and Jazz Air filled 82.2 per cent of their seats in June, off from a year-ago load factor of 82.8 per cent. System-wide passenger traffic increased 1.9 per cent from June 2007, while capacity was up 2.7 per cent - an expansion that Air Canada acted during the month to reverse, announcing plans for a seven per cent cut in fall and winter capacity. This Air Canada cut, entailing 2,000 job losses, was followed by the Jazz regional carrier's announcement last week that it would reduce capacity by five per cent and eliminate 270 jobs.
