State of Virginia welcomes new direct flight to Richmond with Air Canada, celebrates 10 per cent increase of Canadians Charmaine Pang

| Alisa Bailey, President and CEO, Virginia Tourism Corporation; Tony Celio, Air Canada; Sana Keller, Canadian Representative, State of Virginia | | The Virginia Tourism Corporation touched down last night in Toronto to usher in their newest campaign, "Live Passionately," and to celebrate a new flight with Air Canada from Toronto to Richmond. The event was hosted at the home of U.S. Consul General John R. Nay and his wife Judy Nay. Consul General Nay said that he and his wife originate from Michigan, but have also spent much of their time living in Virginia. In addition, he noted his great-great-great-great Grandfather arrived in Virginia from Germany, making him an honorary Virginian. The new Air Canada route flies twice a week from Toronto to Richmond with Jazz Air, an easy and convenient direct route which reduces travel time, said Tony Celio from Air Canada.

Yesterday evening an afternoon press conference was hosted in Toronto at the Cuba Tourist Board to discuss some of the brand new developments and progress in Holguin. Holguin is the second most-popular destination in Cuba, after Varadero, and the tourism destination most affected by Hurricane Ike, which struck the city directly in September 2008. Many hotels were badly damaged, but since then, have been not only refurbished but renovated and upgraded.

Airline employees deliver thousands of toys to sick kids across Canada
Over 7,300 WestJetters collected more than 3,000 toys for the airline's annual WestJet Cares for Kids Toy Drive. Starting December 2, 2008, WestJetters across Canada will deliver the toys to 28 children's hospitals and pediatric wards in 25 cities. In addition to a toy, the children and family members visited by WestJetters will also be given a special little WestJet Cares for Kids stocking. WestJetters will visit 28 hospitals in the 25 cities of Winnipeg, Ottawa, Toronto, Hamilton, Vancouver, London, Prince George, Victoria, Calgary, Comox, Abbotsford, Kelowna, Edmonton, Grande Prairie, Fort McMurray, Regina, Saskatoon, Thunder Bay, Quebec City, Moncton, Charlottetown, Kitchener-Waterloo, Halifax, Montréal and St. John's.

Thai airports reopen as anti government protesters end their siege Canadian Press

| Bangkok Airport | | The first commercial flight in a week arrived in Bangkok on Wednesday as anti-government protesters ended their siege of the country's two main airports, declaring victory after Thailand's prime minister was ousted by a court ruling. The departure of the People's Alliance for Democracy from the airport ended the country's immediate crisis, which had virtually severed Thailand's air links to the outside world for a week, and stranded more than 300,000 tourists. The airport received its first commercial airliner - a flight by the national airline Thai Airways from the resort island of Phuket - at 2:15 p.m.
