How do you feel about Unique Vacations’ recent no discounting policy on Sandals and Beaches product?
I’m happy because I can continue to sell the company’s products with confidence
I’m indifferent, Unique Vacations has always supported agents so this is nothing new
I don’t sell this type of product so I’m not affected by the change
I’m not so pleased – how am I supposed to sell to my clients without discounting?
EU TO PROBE 3 AIRLINES
Canadian Press
The European Commission has opened an antitrust probe into a revenue-sharing deal between British Airways PLC, American Airlines and Spain's Iberia SA, a spokesman said Friday. ‘ZOOM’ING NO MORE
Zoom Airlines is finished; other carriers assisting with special fares and extra capacity
Charmaine Pang
Coast to coast across Canada, news outlets are reporting on the latest Canadian airline demise – that of Ottawa-based Zoom Airlines. The story is familiar: high gas prices force dwindling profits, not enough to cover expenses, and yet another airline shuts down. Canwest News reported that the Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) is “pulling out all the stops” to make sure the thousands of passengers who are stranded are able to make their way home. Spokesman Jadrino Huot said they were “caught by surprise” and the CTA’s priority is to “provide advice to affected ticket holders about their options, rights and recourse and refer them to appropriate organizations for immediate help." Consumers who used credit cards to pay for their Zoom tickets should contact financial firms to have charges reversed. [Full text and pictures]

GO AWAY, GUSTAV!
Canadian Press
Tropical storm Gustav whipped and drenched Jamaica on Friday as it continued its march through the Caribbean on a path that could see it strengthen into a perilous Category 3 hurricane by the time it hits the U.S. Gulf Coast next week. Gustav ripped off roofs, downed power lines and deluged Jamaica with heavy rains that triggered landslides and flooding but no reported deaths. At least 67 people died earlier in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Next in its path are the Cayman Islands. Forecasters said it could strengthen back into a hurricane before slamming into Grand Cayman later  Friday and into the western tip of Cuba on Saturday.
