| GET READY FOR HIGHER HAWAII FARES |
Bankruptcies at ATA Airlines, Aloha Airlines, likely mean higher Hawaii fares Canadian Press
| Honolulu, Hawaii | | The abrupt shutdowns of ATA Airlines and Aloha Airlines won't keep travellers off Hawaii's shores altogether, but they could make an already expensive vacation destination even pricier and potentially put the leis and luaus out of reach for many. Flights to and from Hawaii had been a key part of ATA's business ever since the Indianapolis-based carrier scaled back its route network following a previous trip through bankruptcy in 2006. On Thursday, the airline suddenly quit flying, leaving passengers on the islands and elsewhere stranded as it again headed for bankruptcy court. Virtually all the carrier's more than 2,200 employees were laid off. ``It'll hurt,'' said Minneapolis-based airline expert Terry Trippler. ``They did a lot of business to and from Hawaii at fairly reasonable prices.'' | CSTAR CLARIFIES BSP MEMORANDUM |
Update on Virtual MPD; 2 additional webinar sessions available on Apr. 28, Apr. 30
CSTAR has provided an update on the Virtual MPD (V-MPD) in BSPlink. The association objected to the additional costs agencies would have to pay to provide agents BSPlink access to the V-MPD, and requested IATA reduce or waive access fees. On Apr. 1, 2008, IATA uploaded a memorandum in BSPlink offering a lower sub-user fee of $5 per additional log-in but only for Enhanced BSPlink Users, and only for the year 2008. CSTAR says that “the chart of benefits which would be provided to Enhanced Users contains features and functionality which are not available in BSP Canada at all. Specifically, refund applications, refund notices, and the MAN (Minor Adjustment Notice) are functions that are not now, nor are they ever envisioned to be implemented in BSP Canada… Please be guided by this fact when making any decision to upgrade your access to BSPlink.” Read on for more details about the webinar sessions for V-MPD.
