| SAS AWARDS COMPENSATION FOR TURBOPROP INCIDENT |
Sweden's SAS compensates turboprop accident passengers, who will receive $2800 US each Canadian Press
Each passenger aboard the two SAS AB turboprop planes made by Bombardier that crashed in Denmark and Lithuania has been awarded cash compensation of 2,000 euros (US$2,800), a company official said Thursday. SAS spokesman Bertil Ternert said the airline operator was following EU directives to cover any costs related to the accidents that the 117 passengers might have incurred. ``As an airline company, we have strict responsibility guidelines to follow,'' Ternert said. ``It's so that they can cover any costs that might have come up,'' he said, adding that the company is in touch with all passengers to see whether they need any medical or psychological assistance. On Sept. 9, a SAS-owned Q400 turboprop caught fire after making an emergency landing at Aalborg's airport in Denmark. Three days later, an SAS aircraft of the same type skidded off a runway at Vilnius airport in Lithuania and smashed one wing into the ground, also during an emergency landing.

| AIRBUS PARENT COMPANY SUFFERS SETBACK |
Parent company EADS set back by insider trading probe Canadian Press
| Airbus A380 | | Just as Airbus began selling its oft-delayed superjumbo as a success story, a report of ``massive insider trading'' at parent company EADS was leaked to the media Wednesday - raising the question of whether the beleaguered company can ever get ahead of its problems. The preliminary report by the stock market regulator, suggesting that EADS executives sold shares and exercised stock options after learning about significant delays to the A380, came less than two weeks before a ceremony marking the delivery of the first superjumbo to Singapore Airlines. EADS chief executive Louis Gallois, who did not sell shares at the time, tried to downplay the findings, which judicial officials said Wednesday had been delivered to the prosecutor's office.
