NO MORE VISAS FOR CZECH, LATVIAN VISITORS

The federal immigration minister is set to announce that visitors to Canada from the Czech Republic and Latvia will no longer require visas. Diane Finley is lifting the visa requirements as part of Canada's ongoing review of travel requirements for European Union members. The visas still apply to several eastern European countries that were once part of the former Soviet Union but have since joined the EU. Last year, Ottawa issued 8,400 visitors’ visas to travellers from the two countries.

 Approximately 450 guests were welcomed to the Carlu in Toronto for an extravagant gala reception, dinner and special concert by surprise guest, Canadian rock legend Bryan Adams. His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline and Group joined his Canadian counterparts in welcoming the guests in attendance, which included tourism partners, business leaders, local and international media. The Illinois Bureau of Tourism (IBOT) has just announced the lucky draw winner of a trip for two to Chicago, courtesy of the IBOT, United Airlines and Chicago’s Essex Inn. Addison Show attendees who dropped their business cards in Halifax, London, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto and Winnipeg were eligible to win the prize. Ellen is a Leisure Specialist with I.H. TROPICAL STORM NOEL UPDATE

Tropical storm Noel brought heavy rain to the western Caribbean on Tuesday as it pushed through Cuba and edged closer to Florida. Forecasters projected the storm would emerge over water Wednesday near central Cuba and head northeast toward the Bahamas. Residents of southeastern Florida were advised to monitor the progress of Noel, which could pass close to the state over the next few days.
