GO ISRAEL, SAYS GROFMAN
Oded Grofman, new Consul Tourism, Director-Canada for Israel Government Tourist Office, discusses strategy and plans for Canadian market
Charmaine Pang
Oded Grofman, Consul Tourism, Director Canada, IGTO
Oded Grofman is the new Consul Tourism, Director for Canada of the Israel Government Tourist Office (IGTO). He officially joined the Toronto IGTO office in September 2007, replacing Dani Shahal, the outgoing Consul Tourism and Director for Canada. Grofman has an MBA in marketing and has worked in the office of the Director General of the Israel Ministry of Tourism. He arrived at his new post in Canada after spending many years in the private sector.  In an exclusive interview yesterday with TRAVELHotNews.com, Grofman talked about the IGTO’s goals and strategy for Canada in the next five years, and the upcoming launch of the new GoIsrael.ca website for Canada. Last year, Israel welcomed 60,000 Canadians. From January to August 2007, there were 38,247 Canadians who went to Israel; if trends continue, the figure by year’s end should be 70,000. Over the next five years, it is the IGTO’s goal to double this number. [Full text and pictures]
