| RCI TO REMOVE SALES RELATIONSHIPS WITH MLMs |
ARTA applauds RCI’s new policy to remove sales relationships with multi-level marketers; sets stage for TRIP ID card
Royal Caribbean International (RCI) has announced that it will terminate relationships with multi-level marketers (MLMs) which provide travel agency credentials and identity cards to consumers for the purpose of becoming would-be "travel agents.” "Today's announcement by the RCI family of cruise lines is welcome news from a respected supplier to curtail the growth of the MLM/Card Mill business, a scheme which denigrates the stature and role of the legitimate travel retailer. In much the same way as Marriott and other key suppliers have fined-tuned their travel agency recognition programs to filter out consumers posing as travel agents, RCI has taken a major step today to add teeth to its support for the legitimate travel retailer,” said Barry Richcreek, ARTA Chairman.

| ACTA SPEAKS OUT ON YUL FEE INCREASE |
ACTA deplores $20 improvement fee increase at Montreal-Trudeau Airport
| Montreal-Trudeau Airport | | Aéroports de Montréal (ADM) recently announced that it would increase its improvement fee to $20 for passengers departing from Montreal-Trudeau Airport. Introduced as a temporary measure in 1997, the tax was meant to upgrade the country’s second-busiest airport. “This situation is unacceptable, and the Canadian government must act to significantly reduce the unsustainable burden of almost $1billion of government fees and surcharges that are imposed on the air travel sector and ultimately passed down to the travel consumer,” Ms. Théberge concluded.
