| PASSPORT CONFUSION FOR CANADIANS |
|
Canadians confused about when they need passport to travel to U.S.: survey Canadian Press
A new survey suggests that Canadians are confused about when a passport is required to enter the United States, even though a majority believes they are aware of current regulations. According to a new Harris-Decima survey, 51 per cent of Canadians polled believe they need a passport to enter the U.S. at sea, while 39 per cent believe a passport is required to enter at land border crossings. In fact, Canadians currently only need a passport to enter the U.S. by air. Still, 66 per cent of Canadians surveyed said they felt they were aware of current passport regulations for travel to the U.S. The survey also found that 42 per cent of those polled did not have a valid Canadian passport. Ontario had the highest number of passport holders and Alberta the lowest. The survey of 1,000 Canadian adults was commissioned by Disney Parks Canada and conducted between Oct. 25 and Oct. 29. Results are accurate to within 3.1 percentage points, plus or minus, 19 times out of 20.
