| ATLANTIC CITY: GET "TURNED ON" |
Atlantic City is "always turned on" - with brand new entertainment, nightlife, shopping, casinos and more Charmaine Pang
| Jeff Vasser, Executive Director, Atlantic City CVA; Ella Kenney, Atlantic City PR representative | | Yesterday afternoon, the Atlantic City Convention and Visitors' Authority (ACCVA) hosted media at One restaurant at the Hazelton Hotel in Toronto. The ACCVA were in town to discuss the new 'renaissance' of Atlantic City and its renewed appeal for Canadians. Executive Director of the ACCVA, Jeff Vasser, is a born-and-raised Atlantic Cityite who had news and developments to share about his city. Vasser says, "We're trying to bring [Canadians] back into the fold." The main message the ACCVA wants to get across is that Atlantic City is now a full-bodied destination. It has much more to offer than the casinos, beaches, and boardwalks that have historically attracted Canadians and urbanites from nearby Philadelphia, New York City and Washington, D.C.

IATA's Bisignani says industry may need 17,000 new pilots annually
| Giovanni Bisignani, IATA Director General, CEO | | The International Air Transport Association (IATA) warned the world's airlines of a severe pilot shortage unless industry and government work together to change training and qualification practices. IATA issued a new estimate that the industry may need 17,000 new pilots annually due to expected industry growth and retirements. "Increasing the retirement age to 65 will help but it can't be the only solution. It's time to ring the warning bell. We must re-think pilot training and qualification to further improve safety and increase training capacity," said Giovanni Bisignani, IATA Director General and CEO.

| POLAND LOOKS INTO B.C. TASER INCIDENT |
Poland probes death of citizen after he was hit by Taser at Vancouver airport Canadian Press British Columbia is prepared to co-operate with Polish officials who've opened a formal investigation into the death of Robert Dziekanski but officials are skeptical charges against any police officers involved in the incident would be successful. Polish prosecutors announced Wednesday they have launched their own investigation into the case of the Polish immigrant who died at Vancouver International Airport after RCMP used a Taser stun gun on him at least twice. It is the eighth investigation into the Oct. 14 death of the 40-year-old Dziekanski, who became agitated after spending hours fruitlessly waiting to meet his mother. Michal Szulczynski, a spokesman for the Gliwice prosecutor's office, said the Polish investigation was opened Nov. 22, after Polish diplomats in Canada informed prosecutors in Poland of Dziekanski's death.
