ACE AVIATION $1.5B BUYBACK
ACE Aviation Holdings to repurchase up to $1.5 billion of its shares
Canadian Press
ACE Aviation Holdings announced a plan yesterday to repurchase up to $1.5 billion of its shares in a modified Dutch auction. The Montreal-based corporate parent of Air Canada said it will buy roughly 54.2 million shares under that offer that will see shareholders receive up to $30 per share. The price paid will be based on the number of shares tendered and the prices specified by shareholders. It will be the lowest price that will enable ACE to purchase up to $1.5 billion of shares. The offer was set expire at 5 p.m. ET on Jan. 10, 2008. In addition to Air Canada, ACE is a holding company with stakes in Aeroplan Income Fund, Jazz Air Income Fund and ACTS. The share buyback comes as ACE, which was created as part of the airline's restructuring under creditor protection, works to unwind its business.
