CARNIVAL FUEL SURCHARGE CHANGE
Carnival will not implement retroactive fuel surcharge; fuel charge applies only to bookings from Canada made on Nov. 7 or later
ACTA have announced that they have successfully lobbied to change Carnival Cruise Lines' proposed retroactive fuel surcharge fee. On November 7th, the cruise line stated that a new retroactive fee would be imposed on passengers to cover rising fuel costs.  The largest cruise carrier in the world imposed the surcharge for its following North American brands: Carnival, Costa, Cunard, Holland America, Princess and Seabourn. ACTA raised the issue of retroactivity with Carnival, pointing out that some laws and regulations in Canada should be further examined and could be challenged by this retroactive application. AEROPLAN BUYS UK LOYALTY PROGRAM FOR $755M
Aeroplan pays $755M to acquire Nectar U.K. loyalty program operator LMG

Loyalty-card operator Aeroplan Income Fund has agreed to pay the equivalent of C$755 million to acquire Loyalty Management Group, which operates the Nectar loyalty program in Britain. The deal for privately held LMG, the first major international acquisition for Aeroplan, creates ``the leading global player in loyalty management,'' Aeroplan CEO Rupert Duchesne declared Monday. The income trust will pay 368 million pounds to LMG chairman Sir Keith Mills, private equity firm Warburg Pincus and the LMG management team, which is to remain in place an operate the business separately from Aeroplan. Skyservice unveils eco-friendly B-757 aircraft, most fuel-efficient Boeing 757 in the country
Longtime Sunquest partner Skyservice has just unveiled its eco-friendly B-757 aircraft, which has been updated to be the first fuel-efficient Boeing 757 in Canada. The aircraft just returned from a state-of-the-art modification which will save over 360,000 litres of fuel annually, or a reduction of 765 tonnes of C02 emissions yearly. The noise footprint of the aircraft has been reduced, and its range increased.  "These are remarkable numbers which demonstrates the Skyservice commitment to the environment and efficiency," said Rob Giguere, President and COO of Skyservice Airlines.
