Club Med reports eight million euro net loss for 2007, after profitable 2006 Canadian Press
 |
| Club Med Village Cancun Yucatan | | French resort operator Club Mediterranee SA on Thursday said it swung to a net loss for fiscal 2007, from a profit last year when property sale gains boosted its performance. Club Med posted an eight million euros ($11.7 million) loss for the 12 months to Oct. 31, compared with a five million euros ($7.3 million) net profit in fiscal 2006. Revenues for the year were 1.73 billion euros ($2.53 billion), up 2.9 per cent from 1.68 billion euros a year earlier. Hurricane Dean dragged on revenues over the second half, while business in the Asian region continued to grow. Club Med said it expected to complete the overhaul of its resorts in late 2008, ``enabling management to focus in 2009 on optimization of the new business model, innovation and growth,'' Club Med chairman and chief executive Henri Giscard d'Estaing said in a statement.
