UK relaxes carry on rules
Musical instruments okay, but still no liquids
The British government has announced that carry on restrictions are being relaxed to permit musical instruments and larger bags to be taken aboard commercial aircraft. Severe limits to items allowed on board were imposed after the August 10 announcement that police had uncovered an alleged plot to bring down U.S.-bound aircraft with liquid-based explosives.

At a regional council meeting held in Montreal, Moscou Coté was elected Chair of Quebec's Regional Council. Robert Turcotte replaced Coté as vice-president. These changes were made in conjunction with Jean Collette's nomination to Chair of ACTA's Board of Directors, who following his nomination, had asked to be relieved of its responsibilities as Chair of ACTA Quebec's Regional Council.


Milton slams Canadian airports

Says government `only hope' for mismanagement

The CEO and chairman of ACE Aviation, parent company of Air Canada ad Air Canada Jazz,  launched a scathing review of Canadian airports, calling most of them "poorly managed monopolies,'' saying the Conservative government is the "only hope'' to monitor the industry. Robert Milton told the audience at an RBC Capital Markets conference on Thursday that there is "inadequate oversight'' of Canadian airports. "These are natural monopolies and they are by-and-large very poorly managed and life is easy,'' he said.

Despite cloudy moments, the weather held and it turned out to be a great day for the 18th annual ACTA Ontario/Contac Golf Tournament.One hundred and twenty nine golfers, more than had signed up for the initial rained out date in July, showed up August 28 at the Glen Eagle Golf Club in Bolton. Alio launches Bermuda brochure

Alio has launched a new Bermuda brochure which is now being distributed to travel agencies across Canada. The brochure has been produced with the cooperation of Bermuda Tourism Department. The ten featured hotels fall into two sections: Small and Intimate, which includes the Coco Reef Resort & Spa, Ariel Sands, Surf Side Beach Club, Harmony Club and Rosedon Hotel. Resort Hotels include the Elbow Beach Bermuda, Grotto Bay Beach Resort, Wyndham Bermuda Resort, Fairmont Hamilton Princess and Fairmont Southampton.
